How to use emotion to strengthen your presentation
In the academic life we are taught to be logical, reasonable and objective when presenting our opinion and ideas. However, a successful presentation needs signifcant emotional factor to ampilfy the stimulation over audiences.
One famous example is Dr Martin Luther King's speech over civil rights movement:
"This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day."
The speech is really moving and emotional. It enpowered the people in despair to fight against the unfair reality and for the civil rights of all citizens.
Even in a scientific presentation, emotions can be put in the part of motivation to emphasis the importance of research. Al Gore used a lot in his speech effetively educating people about global warming by the stunning consequence in the inconvenient truth, although overemphaisized and not accurate at some points.

Re: How to use emotion to strengthen your presentation
Some great views were posted in this forum on SUCCESS. But I havnt seen many that reiterated the Emotion aspect in it, except on this thread.
I would like to reaffirm for myself and others that Emotion is often underrated by technology professionals when they are marketing their ideas. They are often misled into advertising the cool-ness factor. But that is not an emotion that will appeal to all the technology-satiated people out there. Their ideas might stick up more if the technology is related to the common emotions.
