The value of mentors....
I liked his message to be persistent in getting the mentor that you want. From personal experience, having a good mentor was instrumental in my development both personally and professionally. I found it interesting that he didn't mention that he got his strategy for execution from his mentor until pressed.
I also enjoyed the mention about constantly refining and filling in the holes in his business plan, as he received feedback. Feedback is critical in getting a finely honed plan, and I appreciated hearing this.
I found Mr. Frame to be a very smart, thoughtful, and balanced young man, and I have no doubt that he'll succeed in his endeavors.

Re: The value of mentors....
It's funny how these seminars effect your lives. In my own, the afternoon after attending I sent a quick e-mail to a prof from last year, who has somewhat mentored me in a startup endeavor over the past few months. The first words he said were, "I think I found a few holes in your business plan." I think this serves as feedback for me in my business, as well as for Mr. Frame on the quality of his presentation.

Re: The value of mentors....
I felt that this was one of Anrew's strongest points in his presentation. Although he gave some other noteworthy adominitions, this advice was very practical and somewhat easy to execute.
It was also great to hear that Andrew practices what he preaches. So often it is easy to throw around sound advice but not fully live by it. It was obvious that Andrew's mentor has had a profound impact on his startup and life.

Re: The value of mentors....
I very much agree with the point of the importance of mentors. Going along with what Jackie Speier said about the importance of relationship building (rather than networking), it's essential to get to know others on a much deeper level. Usually it's not that easy to develop a relationship quickly or easily, but with persistence and caring it usually will pay off very well.

Mentors should be your role models. Mentors help you make decision and guide you in ambiguous situations. Jackie speider also mentioned the same.

Re: The value of mentors....
I thought his point about mentors was very interesting and noteworthy. I liked that he shared how aggressively he went out and found his mentor. He places a lot of importance on a good mentor, and I would completely agree. I could not imagine going into business without any advice or mentor. I thought he did a good job showing how he went out and got a mentor. I will use his example if I choose to go into a start-up.

Re: The value of mentors....
Andrew's drive and passion to find the right mentor is inspiring. Too often than not young people end up wasting value time and resources trying to reinvent the wheel themselves. It is much more productive for peolpe to communicate between generations and optimze the development of new businesses or knowledge.
