Networking vs. building relationships

I think what works in the business world, as in personal life, is if you focus in building relationships with people because of bonds that you share with them. Networking and being able to share sweet-nothings with people over wine, cheese or beer won't get you too far, unless you can learn and respect things about the other person and vice versa.

I agree.  There is often far too much emphasis on networking and not enough on really strong relationships.
